John W. Muir is a Settlement Consultant and Managing Partner with Ringler, serving clients from the Bloomington, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri offices. Since joining Ringler in 2004, John has focused on developing practical funding and settlement solutions for complex workers’ compensation and personal injury matters.
John has particular expertise in workers’ compensation cases involving Permanent Total Disability, Wage Differential and Death benefits, as well as Medicare Set-Aside Arrangements, Life Care Plans, Special Needs Trusts and other matters involving significant long-term financial obligations.
A hallmark of John’s practice is looking beyond traditional settlement approaches to identify solutions for difficult or unusual financial challenges. His office works with insurers, self-insured employers, attorneys and other professionals to develop strategies that address long-term liabilities, improve claim administration and create more efficient ways to fund future obligations. That problem-solving approach has also led John to develop specialized initiatives involving liability transfer and benefits replacement solutions, as well as structured installment sales for business, farm and real estate transactions.
John regularly assists clients at mediations and settlement conferences, helping evaluate settlement alternatives and design funding strategies tailored to the needs of the parties. He also provides educational presentations on structured settlements, Medicare Set-Asides, long-term claim funding and other emerging settlement and financial strategies.
John believes the best solutions often begin with a simple question: **Is there a better way to accomplish what the client needs?** That philosophy continues to guide his work and the development of new solutions for Ringler clients.
